MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education and Experience : Education Degree- Masters Level, Bi- Lingual desired
Certification / Licensing : Valid Georgia teacher's certificate.
Interrelationships : This position has frequent contact with teachers, ESS leads, ESS director, school administrators, school counselors, family advocates, student support team leaders, instructional coordinators, parents and students.
GOAL :
The Diagnostician is a system-wide position who has frequent contact with teachers, special education leads, special education director, school administration, school counselors, family advocates, student support team members, academic specialists, parents and students.
The diagnostician conducts and interprets educational evaluations and screeners for students being considered for special educational services, re-evaluations and 504s.
In addition, they consult with teachers, parents and other school personnel and attend meetings to support students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Data Collection, Assessments, and Data-Based Decision Making
Aid teams by conducting achievement testing and SST screenings to provide information for team meetings, re-evaluation meetings or for a students' eligibility for special education and other educational services.
Conduct bi- lingual achievement testing and screenings
Coordinate dissemination, receipt and scoring of behavior rating scales.
Coordinate dissemination and receipt of medical releases.
Use a problem-solving framework as the basis for all professional activities
Consultation and Collaboration
Effectively communicate information for diverse audiences, such as parents, teachers and other school personnel, policy makers, community leaders, and others.
Consult and collaborate at the individual, family, group, and systems levels.
Attend SST, redetermination and other meetings designated by the Exceptional Student Services Director or School Psychologists
Provide support to teachers to acquire required components of evaluation and eligibility information including observations, work samples and progress monitoring.
All other duties as assigned.
Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
Constant and consistent ability to supervise students required.
